Questions, answered honestly
The things people actually ask before connecting a bank account — including the unflattering parts.
- Does checking my mortgage readiness affect my credit score?
- No. Where a credit check is part of building your credential, it is a soft check, made with your authorisation. A soft check is visible only to you on your own credit file and does not affect your credit score.
- What does read-only bank access mean?
- Connecting your bank uses Open Banking through FCA-authorised providers. Moxim can read your transactions to build your readiness picture; it cannot move money or change anything. You sign in with your own bank, so Moxim never sees or stores your bank password, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
- Is this mortgage advice?
- No. Everything Moxim shows is illustrative and educational: never advice, a personal recommendation, a quote, an offer, or a lending decision. For advice on your own situation, a regulated mortgage adviser is the right person to speak to.
- Am I talking to a real person?
- No. Moxim's concierge is an AI assistant, not a live human agent — it can walk you through the illustrative experience and answer general questions, but it does not give advice. For regulated mortgage advice, or to speak to a person, the broker directory connects you with a regulated mortgage broker.
- Is Moxim regulated?
- Moxim is not yet authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It is not yet PRA-authorised or FCA-regulated, which is why everything on this site is illustrative and educational.
- How is it free for me?
- The readiness check is free for consumers because the model is broker-funded: brokers will pay to receive pre-verified credentials, not you. There is no charge to you for checking or sharing, and your information is shared only when you choose to share it, with the broker you choose.
- Who sees my information?
- You do, first. If you choose to share your credential with a broker, they receive what they need to help you; the behavioural detail of your bank data stays private to you and opens only in the deepest view, with your explicit consent. You decide who sees what.
- What is a mortgage-readiness credential?
- A portable, tamper-evident digital record of checks already done: identity (including KYC and anti-money-laundering screening results), Government-sourced income, affordability built from your real transactions, a factual account summary from your bank connection, property detail, and credit with your authorisation. You own it, and you can take it to any broker or lender on Moxim.
- How does Moxim work out affordability?
- Every transaction in your connected accounts is categorised against a detailed spending taxonomy using the same affordability methodology lenders apply — an illustrative methodology, not a regulated assessment or a lending decision. The result is a readiness picture grounded in your real income and spending, not a generic income multiple.
- Can I delete my data?
- Yes. You can withdraw consent at any time and ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you. Some records may have to be retained where the law requires it; our privacy policy explains how processing and retention work.
- When can I use it?
- Moxim is in early access ahead of a broker pilot planned for 2026. You can explore the illustrative experience today, and join the early-access list to be first to connect your own bank when it opens.
